    Energy stocks in the age of energy hungry AI

    Energy sector is going to power the age of AI for the next few decades. As Melius-research puts is “much like Thomas Edison ushered in the era of electricity more than a century ago, artificial intelligence may be driving a new “Age of Electrification,” That’s an excellent summary. Energy companies are well positioned to power AI and will will be the biggest winners. The company likes, and I fully agree (and in fact I have been accumulating these name already) these names: CEG Constellation Energy, VST Vistra, NEE NextEra Energy, NRG NRG Energy, and TLN Talen Energy.

    AI computing requires vast amounts of power. “The energy sector is therefore the “enabler” of the AI revolution” as Melius puts it. These companies are locking in years long power purchase agreements with various data centers. Data-center electricity demand growth is estimated to hit 219 gig watts in 2030, up from 82 gigawatts in 2025, Melius said.

    Needless to say that this blog is for my own tracking. My plan assumes a stable market condition. Any disruptions (macro or company specific) can nullify my thesis.

    $BMNR – With Ethereum making higher highs, ETH treasury companies are looking lucrative. I’m trading them tactically. Not holding them for too long (not yet). Very volatile so a strong risk management is warranted. Strong returns do come with strong risks management. Stop loss below 57.80

    $ETH – ETH is a proxy for Ethereum. I’m accumulating.

    $SOUN – any pullback by 5% or more is getting bought in my plans.

    $SOFI – expected reduction in rates will help SOFI. Expecting it to tread toward 26.

    $TOL $PHM – I’m accumulating home builders in any pull backs.

    $NVDA – no change in its bull case. Marching toward 190 provided market conditions remain stable.

    $NBIS – I continue to accumulate. Target 82. Stop loss below 69.

    $MU – MU just revised their revenue and earnings forecast. I expect it to march toward 135. Getting out below 123.59.

    $MOD – A lucrative data center play. Getting out below 136.

    $BWXT – A new bull in nuclear tech. getting out below 173.85

    $BA keeping it. still going strong and coming off its long multi-year base. It has beaten $SPY over the last year.

    $TSLA – getting sexier. getting out below 332.

    $COST – holding strong as it closed above 200 and 50 D EMA. I’m accumulating.

    $META – making higher highs. Continue to accumulate.

    $DASH – any weakness is to be brought. taking loss below 258.9

    $CAVA – to present a golden opportunity in the range of $60-$63. Their same store sales slowing to ~6% vs ~8%. Better times to re-emerge.

    AI Infra spend is for real

    AI infrastructure investment is booming, and stellar earnings from two leading companies confirm this trend.

    Teradyne $TER

    The company makes testing equipment for semiconductors and robotics.

    They just beat Q3 revenue with $769.2 million against the expectations of $743.8 million. It now expects growth to pick up from here to 27%, citing AI-related test demand and its impact across its compute, networking and memory segments. It expects revenue for current quarter of between $920 and $1 billion, ahead of the $815.3 million analysts expected.

    Celestica $CLS

    The company makes connectivity and cloud solutions. The company boosted its outlook and reported a gain in Q3 revenue and profit driven by growing demand for artificial intelligence hyperscalers. The electronics manufacturing services company now expects Q4 revenue of $3.33 billion to $3.58 billion, with adjusted EPS between $1.65 and $1.81. Analysts were expecting revenue of $3.08 billion and adjusted EPS of $1.51.

    CFO Mandeep Chawla on an earnings call credited the rise in Celestica’s outlook to the ramping up of a next-generation program for hyperscaler application in AI and machine learning computing power, which is the hardware resources used to train, run, and scale the software. Celestica is seeing its largest and fastest-growing market presence within AI data centers, where it supports high-performance networking and customer computing platforms.
